Announcing two Spotlight events to join the previously announced Mk.VIII Conference. First up on 8 November 2025, is ‘Logbooks & AvDocs, A Toolbox for Researchers’. Field experts will talk about finding and interpreting logbooks and other aviation docs. If you’re an aviation researcher or enthusiast it’ll help! Zoom, online, with a live Q&A at the end, so a date for your diary! Next, 27-28 Feb, 2026, is ‘Print the Legend’. A look at the changes in aviation biography from the old ‘Boy’s Own’ to more detailed and tougher modern ‘warts and all’ biographies. As well as some famous names profiled by current authors, there’ll be other aspects of aviation storytelling examined! The Spotlights are free and online. With topic experts on aviation writing, you don’t want to miss them! Stay tuned for details, experts, and maybe YOU can contribute too?

Announcing Aviation Cultures’ next conference, Mk.VIII, a collaboration with the Canadian Aviation Historical Society (CAHS) at the KF Centre for Excellence at Kelowna, BC, in Canada and online 17-20 June 2026! The Aviation Cultures Mk.VIII Conference team is led by co-organisers Edward Soye, in Canada, and James Kightly, in Australia, as well as the Aviation Cultures team. The highly-experienced Canadian Aviation Historical Society will continue their Convention process, with both teams working jointly to bring the best of both worlds, ably hosted by the KF Centre for Excellence team, with the full value Aviation Cultures online experience.
Please stay tuned across the usual social media channels, particularly this website, Facebook, LinkedIn and BlueSky, or go to the ‘Contact’ page at the header and we’ll get back to you! Because of the wider, global attendees, we’ll be announcing themes and opening a call for papers later this year. Among the usual CAHS Convention aspects, and the Aviation Cultures concepts, we’ll also be looking forward to exploring the similarities and contrasts between Australian and Canadian aviation.
In early 2025, we were delighted to mark ten years since the very first Aviation Cultures event took place on 27 February 2015 in Sydney. We are also very pleased to see Aviation Cultures continuing into 2026, and, as well as the joint conference in Canada, we have several more events lining up. Please stay tuned!
